Message from Professor Bozenna Pasik-Duncan: 3/6/13

Dear Students,

After looking at the solutions to the samples you sent me I have an important message/remark for you:

Important Remark: Full credit will be given only to solutions that are well-presented, meaning good writing in mathematics is expected: full sentences, justification why you do what you, logic in steps, and answers/conclusions expressed in full sentences. Some of the solutions provided in the posted samples cannot be considered for a full credit. They lack introduction/justification of the approach/method used and they lack well formulated answers/conclusions/inferences.

Major topics for the Exam I:

1. Convergence in probability.

2. MLE and its properties.

3. Confidence Intervals.

4. Testing hypotheses and power function.

5. Point estimators and unbiasedness.

6. Chi -square tests.

7. Rao-Cramer lower bound and efficiency of estimators.
