Dear Students,
The Take-home Exam II was given in class on Thursday and the date for turning it in is: in class on Tuesday, April 30th at 11:00.
No electronic submission is allowed this time.
Comments on problems and grading of solutions:
- This exam follows the procedure and the rule of the qualifying exam in statistics. No assistance on understanding of the problems is permitted.
- You are expected to provide solutions to the problems with your understanding of them and if it is necessary, provide your understanding of the problem and your interpretation of the symbols in them that make sense to you.
- As with the qualifying exam, the rule is as I described in class on Thursday: for passing the qualifying exam you need to receive at least 75% that includes two and a half well solved problems (at least 2 problems need to get a full credit of 25 pts each).
- As the result of this procedure you will receive the full credit of 100 pts designated to the Exam II for receiving at least 75% on your solutions.
I hope that this clarifies my expectations on this exam and you can relax a little bit
and enjoy working on the exam.
Please remember to provide acknowledgements and citations if applicable.
I know that this exam will take significant time; I expect more than 3 hours therefore I decided to give you 2 classes (May 7 and May 9) free. You can use them for writing the final paper.
Keep working, we are almost done... only this exam and the final paper are left, and if you will organize your work wisely you can be done very very soon...
Good luck to you.
Bozenna Pasik-Duncan
