From Molly:

  • The following has been discussed at the meeting of the 2003 ACC Operating Committee.
  • The teachers will be selected nationally, from all fifty states. There will be five from the first workshop, so that we can get feedback on how we have improved our workshops over the years.
  • The teachers will fly in, and stay two nights at the conference hotel - Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Their schedule will be as follows:
    • Tuesday evening - get together with teachers so that we can prepare teachers on what to expect from the workshop.
    • Wednesday morning: breakfast with teachers, more preparation for day plenary talk - Rafaeli on Robocup (8:30-9:30am)
    • Interactive session (10-11:30am) - 20 stations in open area, on education and Internet-based control
    • Session on control labs (11:30-12:30pm) with sandwich brown bag lunch
    • Wednesday afternoon:
    • Starting at 1pm, including a dinner, finishing by 9pm, we will have a workshop for the teachers with lots of interactive activities.
  • We will ask for a MathWorks tutorial
  • Fewer speakers but more in depth, selected from best of earlier speakers from first two workshops.
  • We will videotape the workshop professionally so teachers can take the videotape home later.
  • Feedback from ACC03 General Chair: Bequette would like us to include a group of about 20 local high school teachers from the Denver/Boulder region. That way, there will be a critical mass in this area, and they will be able to work together better.
