The Purpose of the Workshop:The purpose of this Workshop is to expose high school students to control applicatons and research, to initiate such workshops as regular events at each of the two major conferences and also to initiate a series of similar workshops at every University having a control group around the world. This workshop will bring together undergraduates, graduates and high school students. The purpose of the Workshop is to describe control and systems ideas and technology, and to increase the general awareness of the importance of control and systems technology and its cross-disciplinary nature among high school students. Former control undergraduates and current graduates from all over the country will show that control education can take them everywhere, not only to engineering but also to medicine, finance, telecommunications, physics, astronomy or to philosophy of science. A Proclamation of Control Awareness Days prepared by the Technical Committee on Control Education and approved by the BOG will be arranged and done in the offices of the Governor of Nevada and in the office of the Mayor of Las Vegas, with assistance of student, participants of the CDC. The Control Education Committee believes that this type of outreach program will attract students to control and related fields.
