TECHNICAL SPONSOR : IEEE/Control Systems Society
Focus:
Enormous demand to analyze and construct stochastic models describing various situations in the modern world has created new fast growing research fields that include financial mathematics, telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, energy and biomedicine.
Powerful techniques from stochastic theory and stochastic control have allowed to formulate and to solve a number of problems arising in these cutting-edge disciplines.
The workshop will focus on building closer collaborations among stochastic control researchers. It will focus on promoting collaborative initiatives in stochastic theory and control as well as in stochastic theory and control education.
Scope of the Workshop:
This three-day event is intended to gather a group of leading scholars in the field of stochastic theory-adaptive control to talk about leading-edge stochastic control, which includes risk sensitive control, adaptive control, mathematics of finance, estimation, identification, optimal control, nonlinear filtering, stochastic differential equations, stochastic partial differential equations, and stochastic theory and its applications. The invited participants will have the opportunity to discuss the way in which various branches of stochastic theory influence their research. Speakers will be strongly encouraged to make their talks as accessible as possible to the wide variety of stochastic participants which will include students. The workshop will provide an opportunity for all of us to network and discuss cutting-edge technologies and applications, teaching and future directions of stochastic control. Furthermore, the workshop will focus on promoting control theory, especially stochastic control, and it will promote collaborative initiatives in stochastic control and stochastic control education.

Getting to Lawrence/Shuttle/Hotel Information

Airport:

Most of you attended the First Kansas Workshop and know how to get here. For those who will travel for the first time: You will fly to the Midcontinent International Airport in Kansas City, Missouri (note: Kansas City belongs to two states, Kansas and Missouri, be sure your arrangements are for Kansas City Missouri) which is located about 60 miles from Lawrence. Lawrence is between Kansas City and Topeka, the capitol of Kansas. The following link contains a map that helps locate Lawrence, but does not give detailed directions. So far, I have not found one that gives those directions from the Kansas City airport. http://www.visitlawrence.com/around.php3?main=culture/drive.html

Shuttle Reservations:
Please
make shuttle reservation through Math Department. Contact person: Gloria Prothe, KU Mathematics kumath@math.ku.edu tel. (785) 864-7302. In your request provide exact information about your arrival, time and fligh number, and departure. Only shuttle reservations made through the math department will be payed by organizers.

Hotel Reservations:
Only hotel reservations made through the math department will be paid by organizers. Contact person: Gloria Prothe, KU Mathematics kumath@math.ku.edu tel. (785) 864-7302. In your request please specify dates (nights) and whether double/single room or you may want to share a room with another participant. The Department of Mathematics has made reservations at Westminster Inn. You can view all hotels in Lawrence, including Westminster Inn, at: http://www.visitlawrence.com/places.php3?main=culture/tostay.shtml
